Lonicera alpigena subsp. glutinosa, syn. Lonicera glutinosa Vis. is an upright deciduous shrub with bent and crooked branches that can grow up to two meters in height.
This endemic plant, which grows only in Velebit, Biokovo and on the border of Dalmatia, Herzegovina and Montenegro, blooms in June and July. It inhabits stony habitats of high mountain peaks, clearings in the belt of beech and munica forests, boulders, edges of sloughs and similar habitats. It reaches up to 1900 meters above sea level.
The Latin name of this plant comes from the German pharmacist and botanist A. Lonitzer.
